Why do we celebrate Diwali?

As a general observation, many of you might be thinking that Diwali is celebrated because It was Amawasya of Kartik month when lord Shriram came back to Ayodhya after killing the demon Ravana , then people of Ayodhya welcomed lord Shriram by lighting Diya on that day. But there is one more strong Astrological reason is there to celebrate Diwali . You might have heard that a lot of Tantrik do sadhna and get sidhdis(Power) on this day because all devils spirits like ghost etc are very active and power full on this day. But why this happens on this day of the year?
There are 2 planets who are source of light on our earth, Sun is daytime and Moon in night, Light means blessing of God and Darkness is ruled by evil spirits (Many of you remember “ Andhera Kayam rahe”). So in whole month of Kartik, Sun transits in sign of Libra, that is debilitated (Neecha) sign for Sun and sun is considered weak in this sign. On the day of Amawasya in Karthik month, another source of light , Moon also gets disappeared (No Moon) , that means both planets are in weak conditions on the day of Diwali, so when Light will be weak then darkness will rule and all those evil spirits becomes active and powerful, so this day is considered best of Tantra sadhna etc.

So what we human try to do, we try to support these 2 planets (Sun & Moon) by lightening Diya , means we provide artificial lights so that bad spirits could not damage us on extreme level. There is an astrological reason behind every rituals and festival.
